F.A.Q

What are the rooms like?

They are lovely!  All are furnished with comfortable high quality fitted hotel furnishings in a pleasing contemporary style and are spotlessly clean.  Our guests are kind enough to tell us that the style and standard of furnishings and care would grace a superior hotel.  Check out the photos in Our Gallery.

Will my room have a lake view?

We would love to be able to say 'Yes', but the best we can say is 'Nearly but not quite'. Although the lake is comparatively close, there is the merest glimpse of it from the first floor rooms only, through large mature trees but only in winter when there are no leaves!
Nevertheless, there is a very attractive view from Lingwood Lodge's elevated position across its own landscaped garden to the wooded slopes of Claife Heights on the other side of the lake.

Is there Car Parking?

There is private car parking with spaces for 6 cars which may be freely left for the whole of your stay as required.  A pleasant 400 m walk takes you to the lake, shops, restaurants and attractions of Bowness.
On the day of departure you are welcome to leave your car parked for as long as you wish if you wish to enjoy a day locally before your onward journey.

What is Bowness like?

Bowness is the major tourist village of the central Lake District and attracts visitors for most of the year.

The area of the steamer piers has a bustling 'by the seaside' feel to it, with boat trips departing regularly, self drive boats for hire, ice cream kiosks, places to sit to take in the beautiful view and wandering ducks & swans eager to be fed.

The local shops offer interest, variety and a special opportunity for some holiday retail therapy.
Bowness is highly recommended if you enjoy wandering and people watching amid a lively holiday atmosphere.

Are there places to eat nearby?

The local restaurants, hotels, bistros, pubs and cafes offer a huge choice with round the world dining to suit every taste and occasion.  Anything in the spectrum from a 5 course a la carte hotel meal, through stylishly created food in bistro ambience, imaginative pub grub, coffee shops, value carvery meals or takeaway fish and chips is available within a short walk of Lingwood Lodge.
